FAQ

  • How do I book a lesson?
Click on this click here or you can click on the 'Book Now' button at the top of our facebook page. Please contact us before booking. Thankyou
  • How old does my dog have to be before I start training?
You can start to introduce a dog to sheep at any age but it doesn't mean we start training straight away from 8 weeks. Some dogs will be ready to start training at 6 months and with others you will have to wait a bit longer for them to mature. There is no point rushing a dog as it will not make them improve any quicker if they are not ready to be trained; patience is key. Please contact us to discuss the best option for lessons or residential training.
  • Is my dog too old to start training?
This is very dog dependent and it depends on what you require from the dog. By the time a dog is 3 years old then its capability of being training starts to decrease. So the best time to be training is when they are young. However an older dog may still be able to be trained to a useful standard.
  • Do I need to have sheep at home to train my dog as a sheepdog?
No, many people do sheepdog training as a hobby and an outlet for their dog. However the progress in training would be slower as you wouldnt be able to train as often.
  • Do you only train Border Collies?
Most of the dogs that we see are Border Collies but we will train Huntaway's and Kelpies too. Other herding breeds are also welcome, providing that they have come from working parents. Any questions on this then please contact me.
